Abstract Objective To study immune function changes in children with myocarditis. Methods ELISA method was used to detect serum soluble interleukin-2 receptor ( sIL-2R ) in 30 children with viral myocarditis and 22 healthy children. Results The serum sIL-2R level in the acute myocarditis group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.01)and the convalescence group (P<0.01). The sIL-2R levels were 632.56±293.45 U/ml ,258.34±135.92 U/ml and 283.17±185.74 U/ml in the group acute, normal, and convalescence respectively. Conclusions The immune function of children with acute viral myocarditis is abnormal. The measurement of serum IL-2R level changes is useful in the evaluation and prognosis of the immune function of patients.
