1. Peer Review Policy
Chinese Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics adopts a single-blind peer
review system (reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities, but authors do
not know the reviewers’ identities). After a manuscript is successfully
submitted, the editorial office will first conduct a preliminary review. Manuscripts
that fall outside the scope, are suspected of academic misconduct, contain
serious scientific or technical flaws, or have low publication value will be
rejected at this stage. Manuscripts that pass the preliminary review will be
sent to two experts for peer review. The editor-in-chief conducts the final
decision on the manuscript, accepting or rejecting manuscripts fairly and
impartially based on their academic quality.
2. Editorial Policy
For all accepted manuscripts, the editorial office reserves the right to make
technical and language edits. Any modifications that affect the original
meaning will be made only with the authors’ consent. Authors are fully
responsible for the content of their manuscripts.
3. Manuscript Handling Process
1) Submission: The Chinese Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics uses an online manuscript handling system. Authors should submit manuscripts through the journal’s website (www.zgddek.com). Submissions via other channels are not accepted. Upon successful submission, authors will receive a confirmation email.
2) Receipt: The editorial office assigns a manuscript ID and notifies the author of the ID via email.
3) Preliminary Review: The editorial office conducts an initial review. Manuscripts that pass will proceed to external review; those that do not pass will be rejected directly.
4) External Review: Typically, two experts are selected to conduct the external review.
5) Final Review: The editor-in-chief makes the final decision based on the external review reports, which may result in acceptance, acceptance after minor or major revisions, further review after revision, or rejection.
6) Revision: For manuscripts returned for revision, authors must revise according to reviewers’ and editors’ comments and provide a point-by-point response.
7) Editing and Publication: Accepted manuscripts are edited, processed, and published by the editorial office.
4. Review Timeline
If authors do not receive any notification regarding manuscript handling within
two months of receiving the confirmation email from the Chinese Journal of
Contemporary Pediatrics, the manuscript is still under review. Authors
wishing to submit to another journal should contact our journal and must not
submit the manuscript elsewhere simultaneously. For manuscripts returned for
revision, authors should revise according to the reviewers’ comments and
provide a point-by-point response. Unless there are special circumstances, if a
revised manuscript is not returned within eight weeks, it will be considered
automatically withdrawn. Upon receiving the revised manuscript, the editorial
office will conduct a re-review. Manuscripts that pass the re-review will be
formally accepted, while those that do not will be rejected.
5. Appeals
Authors who have objections to the editorial or review decisions may submit an
appeal. Authors must prepare an “Appeal Statement”, clearly indicating the
manuscript ID, and send it to the Chinese Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics via email. The statement must provide a detailed explanation of the appeal,
including comprehensive and reasonable responses to the reviewers’ comments,
and must be officially stamped by the author’s institution to take effect. The
editorial office will decide whether to accept the appeal based on the specific
circumstances.
6. Instruction of Manuscript Status at Each Stage
Accepted manuscripts are generally published about six months after submission. Authors can check the status of their submissions online. The specific meanings of each stage are as follows:
